| Summary, etc. | Aldanovs Romane waren innerhalb der ersten russischen Emigration zwar sehr erfolgreich und wurden in viele Sprachen übersetzt, doch aus unerfindlichen Gründen geriet er dann in Vergessenheit. Sie sind in die Geschichte eingebettet, spielen innerhalb der Geschichte, d. h. sie schließen die seinerzeitigen politischen Ereignisse als seelische Erlebnisse der Personen mit ein. Aldanov weiß ihnen neben ihrem eigenen Leben auch eine übergreifende symbolische Bedeutung zu verleihen - tatsächlich: "Sie erklären ihre Epoche, wie die Epoche sie erklärt." |
