« Aujourd’hui, le monde entier s’offre à travers le polar. » Ce que l’on appelle couramment le polar, sous ses formes diverses qui vont des plus classiques, le récit à énigmes et le roman noir, aux plus hybrides – thrillers politico-judiciaires, ethniques, histoires de meurtriers en série, à la limite de l’enquête clinique ou du récit d’horreur – est devenu le genre littéraire le plus populaire, le plus transversal et le plus « mondialisé ». Le paradoxe de ces récits, parfois traduits en de nombreuses langues, est leur enracinement dans une réalité sociale, culturelle, historique la plupart du temps très spécifique et très localisée. Ce « lieu » peut être plus fantasmatique que géographique. Cet ouvrage rassemble des études ciblées sur différentes traditions géoculturelles d’Europe, d’Asie, d’Afrique et des Amériques. Les spécialistes qui ont contribué à ce volume analysent l’articulation entre la spécificité de ces traditions ou de ces « ambiances » et le caractère transfrontalier des procédés littéraires mis en oeuvre, qui correspond à l’horizon d’attente de la fiction criminelle. |
